It is inevitable that Vietnam is known to be a very hot and humid country, therefore, the weather is not suitable to visit year round. We highly recommend traveling to Vietnam during the winter season, because although it might be slightly cold, you don’t have to tread through the rain and melt under the extreme heat. Vietnam’s winter isn’t as cold as most northern countries, so if you are used to the cold, Vietnam’s winter won’t faze you at all. Additionally, it is dry in the winter, because the monsoon season only lasts throughout the summer months.
Additionally, during the colder months of October to March, it is generally the time where Vietnamese people start preparing and celebrating for Christmas, New Year, and Chinese New Year. Although Christmas and New Year are generally considered as western holidays, Vietnamese people have taken interest in them in recent years and many places will decorate to celebrate the holidays.
Now, Chinese New Year is where it’s especially special because it is a national Vietnamese holiday that has been around for decades. During this time, decorations light up your eyes and music fills your ears. Everyone is strolling the streets in the new year spirit. We highly recommend visiting Ha Noi’s Old Quarter during this time as it is where most of the celebrations are held and the streets are lit up with lanterns. Rows upon rows of shops to buy souvenirs, eat, and experience various activities.
There are a plethora of activities to indulge in when traveling Ha Noi and here are some of the best spots to stop by when you’re here:
