Can 25 guests use pottery wheels at the same time? Yes! At Authentic Bát Tràng, a group of 25 can make pottery together on individual electric wheels, supported by our instructors in a comfortable workshop in Hanoi’s Old Quarter.
If you are arranging a group pottery class in Hanoi, you want everyone to take part in the same experience. Our workshop has the wheels, team and space to welcome your group, whether you are travelling with friends, gathering with family or planning an activity with colleagues.

Can all 25 guests make pottery together?
Yes. We can arrange a session where 25 guests each use a pottery wheel at the same time. Please book your group in advance so we can confirm the date and prepare the workstations and instructors for your visit.
Everyone can get their hands into the clay, practise shaping a piece and share the experience with the people around them. You can compare your creations, encourage a friend whose bowl has gone sideways and enjoy seeing how differently the same lump of clay can turn out.
What makes this a practical group activity in Hanoi?
A pottery wheel for each guest
For a group of 25, we can provide individual electric wheels so everyone can take part together. You have your own piece of clay to work on and time to develop your own ideas during the session.
Instructors to help beginners
You do not need previous pottery experience. Our team explains the basic steps and helps you as you practise. English guidance is available for international visitors, making it easier to ask questions and understand how to shape the clay.
The aim is to enjoy learning together. Your first attempt can be wobbly, and starting again is part of the fun.
A workshop in the Old Quarter
The shop and workshop are at 115 Hàng Gai, Hoàn Kiếm, Hanoi. A central location makes it easier to include the class in a day of walking, eating and exploring the Old Quarter. Your group can plan a shared activity without adding a separate trip out to Bát Tràng village.
Unlimited clay and making during your class
You can practise with unlimited clay and make as many pieces as you like within your booked class time. Try another shape, start a fresh piece or repeat a technique until it begins to feel more familiar.
Making and firing are separate parts of the experience. The class includes glazing and firing for one selected piece per guest. If you would like additional pieces glazed and fired, an extra fee applies. Our team can explain the options before you choose which pieces to keep.
What happens during a group pottery class?
- Meet the team and watch a demonstration. See the basic movements before trying them yourself.
- Begin working on your wheel. Learn to centre and shape the clay with guidance from the instructors.
- Practise and experiment. Try simple forms such as a bowl or cup, and make more attempts during your session.
- Choose your favourite piece for finishing. Discuss glazing and any additional firing with the team.
- Confirm collection arrangements. Check when your finished pottery will be ready before you leave.
There is plenty to enjoy along the way, from the first moment the clay begins to take shape to the laughter when an ambitious creation needs another try.
